Balances

The analytical balance is a laboratory equipment, also known as a scale, designed to measure the quantities of masses to be studied with a high level of precision. This type of balance is one of the most used measurement tools in the laboratory, which depends fundamentally on all analytical results.

In this sense, they must have calibration adjustments necessary to repair gravitational differences. They use an electromagnet, called an electromagnetic force restoration sensor, to form the force that counteracts the sample to be measured, and gives the result, calculating the force needed to level the balance.

Types of Scales a Lab May Need

Waterproof Scale

  • LED digital display/Double display
  • Tare function/Counting
  • Check  weighing
  • Unit conversion (g/kg/lb)…

To guarantee the correct operation of a balance, it is necessary to calibrate it during its first installation. And it should be the first of successive periodic calibrations as determined by the balance manufacturer. Calibration is one of the most important aspects to attend to when carrying out maintenance and this is designed to ensure that the results obtained when weighing are accurate and reliable Calibrations, both in mechanical and electronic scales, are carried out performed using standard weights. These weights have an exact known mass and must always match the measurement.

Analytical Balances

An analytical balance is commonly used to determine the mass of an object, it provides a high degree of precision in the order of 0.001 grams. For its correct operation, the analytical balance must be positioned under a specific environment and have controlled environmental conditions so that it does not suffer alteration in the absolute value of the weighing.

Applications of an analytical balance

Among the main applications of analytical balances we find:

  • Preparation of standards.
  • Formulation
  • Determination of density.
  • Interval weighing.

Our Best Selling Balance

It is a laboratory instrument used to measure small masses. The saucers with which it is measured are located in a transparent box, which has doors. This is in order that dust and air do not affect the measurements. It is used mainly in laboratories.

Thus, for their correct use, they are used on a rigid, level table, with a single entrance, with a minimum amount of sunlight. They can be digital or mechanical. It delivers very precise measurements, since they use an electronic system that works with hundredths. Its use is necessary in laboratories, for example, in the case of weighing ingredients for the manufacture of substances or medicines. In order for their operation to be correct, they must be calibrated before use. Its working range is a few grams and with a resolution of up to 0.1 µg.
